    Car Racing News: Thrilling Start to 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans

    The 2024 edition of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, has got off to an absolutely scintillating start. After six hours of intense racing, the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P has taken the lead in the Hypercar class, with Ye Yifei and the #5 Porsche Penske Motorsport car in close pursuit.

    In the LMP2 category, Lorenzo Fluxa in the COOL Racing car currently leads, followed by the #10 Vector Sport machine. Meanwhile, in the LMGT3 class, Joel Sturm has put the Manthey PureRxing car at the front, with the #46 Team WRT BMW close behind.

    The race began with a thrilling Hyperpole session on Thursday, which saw the #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport car snatch pole position on the final lap, followed by the #2 Cadillac Racing car. However, the Cadillac will start from 7th due to a grid penalty.

    After a clean start, the #50 Ferrari 499P made an impressive move on the opening lap, taking the lead from the pole-sitting Porsche. The #51 Ferrari soon joined its sister car at the front, creating a Ferrari 1-2. But the battle was far from over, with the #6 Porsche and #3 Cadillac keeping the pressure on throughout the first pit stop cycle.

    As the race progressed, the lead positions continued to change hands, with the #83 Ferrari eventually taking control and building a comfortable lead. The #8 Toyota and #51 Ferrari have also been in the mix, providing fans with some extraordinary racing. In the other classes, COOL Racing and Manthey PureRxing have been the class leaders in LMP2 and LMGT3, respectively.
