Formula E Rookie Test Lineup Revealed: Danish Star Vesti to Make Debut

In an exciting development for Car Racing News, the lineup for the upcoming Formula E rookie test in Berlin has been announced, with Danish driver Frederik Vesti set to make his debut in the all-electric championship.

Vesti, who finished runner-up in the 2022 Formula 2 championship with Prema, has most recently been competing in the European Le Mans Series and conducting a simulator program for Mercedes. The 22-year-old will now get his first taste of Formula E machinery, driving for Mahindra on May 13th following the Berlin E-Prix double-header.

“It’s a great chance to test, and to prove myself as a rookie in a new championship,” said Vesti. “I’m really looking forward to trying the Gen3 Formula E car, which I understand is quite a challenge. That’s probably what I like most about Formula E, it is challenging and the fact it’s a competitive world championship that attracts some of the best drivers – and teams – is a great platform for me.”

Vesti will be joined by Indian driver Kush Maini, the current F2 driver and Alpine F1 Academy member who also serves as Mahindra’s reserve driver.

Other notable names set to participate in the rookie test include W Series race-winner Alice Powell, who will drive for Envision Racing, and a pair of Porsche pilots in F2 race-winner Dennis Hauger and reigning DTM champion Thomas Preining.

With the 2023 Formula E calendar heating up, this rookie test represents a valuable opportunity for up-and-coming talent to showcase their skills on the world stage of electric motorsport. Stay tuned to Car Racing News for all the latest updates from the Berlin rookie test.
