Formula E London E-Prix Set for Free-to-Air Coverage in the UK

In a significant move for motorsports fans in the United Kingdom, the highly anticipated Formula E London E-Prix will be broadcast on free-to-air television this month. The season finale, consisting of two races at the ExCeL in London, will be shown on the TV channel Quest, marking the first time this season that the all-electric championship will be available to viewers without a paywall.

The free-to-air coverage will be available on Freeview (channel 12), Freesat (167), Virgin (137), and Sky (144) from 4:45 pm on July 17-18. This decision represents a departure from the previous arrangement, where the Formula E races had only been accessible through the broadcaster TNT Sports, which had secured the multi-year broadcast rights at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

“Along with the extended race weekend build-up and coverage from our media partner TNT Sports, it’s fantastic to be able to showcase the conclusion of this year’s Formula E championship live and free-to-air on an additional platform โ€“ especially for the UK’s home race โ€“ allowing even more viewers to watch all the exciting on-track action,” said Jeff Dodds, the CEO of Formula E.

With seven drivers mathematically in contention for the Season 10 title, the season finale promises to be a thrilling affair. Jaguar’s Nick Cassidy currently leads the drivers’ standings, with a 12-point advantage over his teammate Mitch Evans and Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein. Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa, who has won four out of the last five races, including both races in Portland, sits 33 points behind Cassidy and is still in the running.

The teams’ and manufacturers’ titles are also up for grabs, with Jaguar and Porsche separated by just 33 points in the teams’ championship, while the German manufacturer holds a 19-point lead over its British rival in the manufacturers’ battle.

The free-to-air coverage on Quest will undoubtedly broaden the reach of Formula E in the UK, allowing even more motorsports enthusiasts to witness the exciting conclusion to the 2024 season. With the championship still wide open, the London E-Prix is shaping up to be a must-watch event for any fan of electric racing.
