Cadillac Dominates Final Practice at WEC’s Austin Showdown

The Cadillac V-Series.R emerged as the car to beat in the final practice session ahead of this weekend’s highly anticipated World Endurance Championship (WEC) event at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

In a session marked by rapidly changing track conditions, Alex Lynn set the fastest lap time of 1m51.571s in the sole Ganassi-entered Cadillac, edging out the Ferrari 499P LMH and Toyota GR010 HYBRID LMH entries. The American manufacturer’s impressive performance underscored its readiness to challenge for victory in the fierce LMH class.

As the temperature dropped from the previous day’s scorching conditions, the lap times tumbled. Toyota’s Kamui Kobayashi initially set the pace, but it was the Cadillac of Lynn that ultimately topped the timesheets, besting Kobayashi’s effort by just 0.040 seconds. The top five cars were separated by a mere 0.072 seconds, highlighting the intense competitiveness at the front of the grid.

“The Cadillac’s performance has undoubtedly sent a strong message to its rivals in the LMH class.”

Filling out the rest of the top positions were the #50 Ferrari of Antonio Fuoco, the #83 AF Corse-entered Ferrari driven by Robert Kubica, and the #8 Toyota GR010 HYBRID LMH piloted by Sebastien Buemi.

In the highly competitive LMGT3 class, the TF Sport Corvette Z06.R duo of Daniel Juncadella and Charlie Eastwood dominated the session, setting the fastest and second-fastest times, respectively. Davide Rigon in the #54 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 completed the top three.

The final practice session was completed without any major incidents, save for a brief full-course yellow period to clear debris from the opening sector.

As the teams prepare for the all-important qualifying session and the race itself, the Cadillac’s performance has undoubtedly sent a strong message to its rivals in the LMH class. Fans and enthusiasts alike can expect an intense and thrilling showdown this weekend at the WEC’s Austin round.
