British GT Championship: Thrilling Action at the Paul Ricard Circuit

The second round of the highly anticipated 2023 British GT Championship took place on July 22nd and 23rd at the iconic Paul Ricard Circuit in France. In the GT3 category, 34 fierce competitors battled it out in the sweltering summer heat of Provence.

Both qualifying sessions were dominated by the impressive #63 Oregon Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, piloted by the dynamic duo of P.L. Chovet and M. Paul. However, it was the Optimum Motorsport pairing of Samuel de Haas and Charlie Fagg who emerged victorious in the first race, crossing the finish line just under 2 seconds ahead of the #17 Team Motopark Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Diego Menchaca and Marcos Siebert. Rounding out the podium were Alfred Renauer and Patrick Kolb in the #99 Lionspeed GP Porsche 911 GT3 R, finishing 20 seconds back.

The second race saw the Lamborghini of Chovet and Paul claim the win from pole position, with a decisive overtake on the Eastalent Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 in the closing stages. Menchaca and Siebert once again secured a spot on the podium, finishing third.

“As the British GT Championship takes a summer break, the championship standings have never been tighter. Separated by a mere one point, the Optimum Motorsport duo of De Haas and Fagg lead the #17 Team Motopark pairing of Menchaca and Siebert, setting the stage for an exhilarating second half of the season.”
