Dakar Rally News: Porsche 911 Dakar Dominates Free Practice Sessions

In the latest Dakar Rally news, the Porsche 911 Dakar has made a strong showing during the free practice sessions, with the RJN team topping the timesheets in Free Practice 2.

The results from the previous round at Spa Francorchamps were finalized following a National Court ruling. The #11 Paddock Motorsport and #40 Fox Motorsport Porsche 911 Dakar entries had initially failed post-qualifying technical checks, but their appeal was upheld, and they were able to retain their finishing positions. This means that the success penalties for the Brands Hatch round have now been allocated, and the championship points have been confirmed.

In the Free Practice 2 session, it was the RJN-entered Porsche 911 Dakar that set the pace, with James Kell posting the fastest time of the session. The top 10 cars were separated by just 0.9 seconds, showcasing the close competition in the Dakar Rally. Euan Hankey and Mia Flewitt rounded out the top five in their Porsche 911 Dakar.

In the GT4 class, it was Academy Motorsport that topped the timesheets, with Matt Cowley setting the fastest time in his Porsche 911 Dakar. Benji Hetherington was close behind in the Pro/Am category, highlighting the strong performance of the Porsche 911 Dakar across both classes.

“We’re happy that the appeal is over, and the results stand,” said Jamie Stanley of Fox Motorsport. “We can now move on and put all our focus on to this weekend.”

With the championship battle heating up, the Brands Hatch round promises to be an exciting event for Dakar Rally fans, with the Porsche 911 Dakar set to be the car to beat.
