Romain Grosjean Scores Best-Ever Finish for Juncos Hollinger Racing at Indy Car Laguna Seca
In the latest round of the 2023 IndyCar season, Romain Grosjean secured a remarkable top-five finish for the Juncos Hollinger Racing team at the Laguna Seca circuit. Starting from eighth on the grid in the No. 77 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet, the 38-year-old Swiss-born Frenchman methodically worked his way forward through strategic pit calls.
The Pivotal Moment
The pivotal moment came during a caution on lap 36 of 95, where Grosjean was elevated from eighth to third as the leading pack pitted. Despite the late-race challenges posed by three cautions in the final 20 laps, Grosjean was able to maintain his position and cross the line in fourth, the best-ever result for the Juncos Hollinger team.
“Quite a good race,” Grosjean said. “I knew we had a fast race car. It was a tough race. I think we saw a lot of people going off; I went off myself a few times. It was very physical, very hard. I think we did an amazing job with the team, with Chevy, the whole weekend. Very proud of everyone.”
The Team’s Best Result
The fourth-place finish marks Grosjean’s first top-five result of the 2023 IndyCar season and is the Juncos Hollinger team’s previous best result of fifth, which was achieved twice by Callum Ilott in St. Petersburg and Laguna Seca earlier this year.
“A little bit too many safety car at the end because I was on blacks (harder primary tires) and knew I didn’t have much deg (tire degradation),” Grosjean added. “I was coming for Alex Rossi, now we’re friends so it’s all good, but anyway, a fantastic job by everyone. We keep working, keep getting better. I think that’s just good for all of us. I think we scored the first point for Chevy today, so (I’m) really happy with that.”
The strong performance from Grosjean and the Juncos Hollinger team is a positive sign as the 2023 IndyCar season heads towards its conclusion. Fans of car racing news can look forward to seeing the team continue to make steady progress in the remaining races.
