British GT Championship: Ferguson and De Pauw Clinch Maiden Win at Snetterton

Snetterton, Norfolk, United Kingdom – In the final race of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship weekend at Snetterton, John Ferguson and Ulysse de Pauw secured their maiden victory in the series. Meanwhile, in the GT4 class, Jack Brown chased down Matt Topham to deliver the first win of the season for Will Burns and Century Motorsport.

The Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini, driven by Sandy Mitchell, made a charge from fifth to second, closing in on the leading Mercedes-AMG of Ferguson right until the checkered flag. Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam finished third after a disappointing result in the earlier race. Ian Loggie extended his championship lead further with a sixth-place finish.

In GT4, Academy Motorsport secured second place, passing the Newbridge Motorsport Aston Martin towards the end of the race. However, Darren Turner and Matt Topham now lead the championship following a post-race penalty for Stellar Motorsport.

“The weekend was a perfect one for Ram Racing, with their two cars taking pole positions, two wins, and a lap record.”

De Pauw took an early lead in the second race, building a clear advantage over Callum Macleod in the sister car. Jonny Adam and Flick Haigh, driving the 2 Seas Motorsport entry, were sandwiched at Turn 1 on the opening lap.

Mitchell moved up to second place, cutting the gap to De Pauw before the pit stops. The battle for victory came down to the wire, with Ferguson holding off a late charge from Adam Balon in the Lamborghini, crossing the line just 0.3 seconds apart. Haigh and Adam rounded out the podium.

In the GT4 class, Will Burns and Jack Brown of Century Motorsport claimed their first victory of the season in the BMW M4 GT4. Steller Motorsport suffered from a post-race penalty, allowing Signoretti and Cowley to finish second, while Topham and Turner took third, putting them level on points with the Steller Motorsport crew in the GT4 standings.

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship now heads to Brands Hatch for the next round on June 24-25, 2023.
