Dakar Rally 2025: Can-Am Maverick R Returns with Experienced Duo

The 2025 Dakar Rally is set to witness the return of Sara Price, who will be competing in her second consecutive event. This time, she will be joined by the experienced Sean Berriman, a former Dakar Rally winner, as they take on the grueling challenge in the SSV category.

Price, who made an impressive debut in the 2024 Dakar Rally, has been selected as a factory driver for Can-Am, and she will be competing in the Can-Am Maverick R, which is set to be FIA-approved for the 2025 season. The Maverick R has already proven its prowess in North American desert racing and has also demonstrated its competitiveness in rally raids, having won the Open Cars class at the W2RC’s Desafío Ruta 40 in June and setting faster overall times than the usual SSV class at the Rallye du Maroc in October.

Price’s journey to the Dakar Rally has been a remarkable one. She clinched free registration for the 2024 Dakar after winning the National Car/UTV class and the Road to Dakar at the 2023 Sonora Rally. Afterward, she entered the Rallye du Maroc to prepare for Dakar and finished runner-up in the SSV class with two stage wins. Despite being relatively new to rally raid, Price’s strong entry into the discipline continued at Dakar, where she became the third woman to win a Dakar stage and finished fourth overall in SSV and second among those registered for the World Rally-Raid Championship, behind eventual champion Yasir Seaidan.

“I’m thrilled to team up with Sean and the Can-Am Factory Team for Dakar 2025,” Price said. “Sean’s experience and success in Dakar bring an immense amount of knowledge to the table, and with Can-Am’s support, we’re well-positioned to make a serious impact and give it all we got to fight for that top spot.”

Teaming up with Sean Berriman, who won the 2020 Dakar Rally in the UTV class, Price is well-positioned to make a serious impact in the 2025 Dakar Rally. Berriman’s experience and success in the Dakar Rally, combined with Can-Am’s support and the capabilities of the Maverick R, give the duo a strong foundation to compete for the top spot.

The 2025 Dakar Rally is scheduled to take place from 3-17 January, and all eyes will be on the Can-Am Maverick R and the experienced duo of Sara Price and Sean Berriman as they aim to leave their mark on the prestigious event.
