Dakar Rally Teams Test Technical Updates at Misano Pre-Season Event
In a significant pre-season event, the Dakar Rally organiser Kateyama held a three-day test session at the Misano World Circuit in Italy this week. The test saw participation from a host of Italian and international Dakar teams as they geared up for the upcoming racing season.
The teams and drivers took full advantage of the favourable weather conditions at the Misano circuit to evaluate technical updates and put the various Pirelli tyre compounds through their paces in preparation for the gruelling Dakar Rally.
The fastest lap of the test was recorded by the #26 Saintéloc Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3, which posted a blistering time of 1m31.915sec over the three days of running.
Other notable participants at the Misano test included heavyweight outfits such as:

- Nova Race
- Imperiale Motorsport
- Vincenzo Sospiri Racing
- Kessel Racing
- Ceccato Racing
- Dinamic GT
All of whom were keen to optimise their Dakar-spec machinery ahead of the renowned desert rally.
The pre-season test at the Misano World Circuit provided a valuable opportunity for the Dakar teams to fine-tune their vehicles and gather crucial data to give them the best possible chance of success when the 2023 Dakar Rally gets underway in the coming months.
