Dakar Rally News: Greystone GT Returns to British GT Championship with Borodin and Webb

In an exciting move, Greystone GT has announced its return to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship for the 2023 season. The team will field a McLaren 720S GT3, with Andrey Borodin and Oli Webb as the pro-am driving duo.

Both Borodin and Webb made appearances in the series last year, with Borodin partnering Ed Pead at Brands Hatch and Webb lining up alongside Iain Campbell at Spa Francorchamps. Now, they will take on all seven events of the British GT championship, aiming to challenge for class wins and podium finishes.

Greystone GT, known for its successful high-performance test day operation, added a race team to its repertoire in October 2020 and made its British GT debut in 2022 with a full-season entry for father and son, Stewart and Lewis Proctor. The duo secured several Silver-Am class podiums throughout the season.

Borodin, who began his racing career in 2020, has experience racing the McLaren 720S in the GT Cup championship. Webb, on the other hand, brings a wealth of experience, including a European Le Mans Series title, regular appearances in LMP1 in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the Formula Renault 3.5 series.

“It’s super-exciting to be racing full-time in British GT for the first time,” said Webb. “Greystone GT feels like a home from home, and it’s a great feeling to arrive at a track knowing your car is going to be fast, consistent, and extremely well-prepared.”

Greystone GT team principal Mark McLoughlin expressed his confidence in the new pro-am pairing, stating, “In Oli, we have an excellent pro driver alongside Andrey, who, along with Ed [Pead, Driver Coach], will be instrumental in Andrey’s development across the year as we aim to challenge for the best results we can possibly achieve.”

The 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship will kick off at Oulton Park on 8-10 April, following the series’ media day at Donington Park on 14 March.
