Dakar Rally 2024 News: Iron Lynx Ferrari’s Dramatic Win at Spa 24 Hours
In the 2021 Spa 24 Hours endurance race, the Iron Lynx Ferrari team faced a thrilling challenge from the WRT Audi squad in the closing stages.
The Iron Lynx AF Corse-run 488 GT3 Evo, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Nicklas Nielsen and Come Ledogar, had been leading for much of the race. However, with rain clouds gathering, WRT boss Vincent Vosse made a bold strategic call, opting to pit the #32 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo of Dries Vanthoor, Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts for wet tires.
This inspired move by WRT almost landed them a stunning victory, as the Audi began to rapidly close the gap to the leading Ferrari.
But in a dramatic twist, Pier Guidi managed to fend off the charging Audi and secure the victory for Iron Lynx, narrowly denying WRT a remarkable upset.
