Porsche Penske Motorsport Victorious in Gruelling Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen

In a thrilling IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship race at Watkins Glen, the #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 LMDh machine emerged victorious after a rain-soaked sprint to the finish line.

Brazilian driver Felipe Nasr, who was installed in the car during the final red flag restart with just 15 minutes remaining, managed to sneak past the pole-sitting #40 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 of Louis Deletraz, who struggled with grip on his new tires in the wet conditions. Nasr’s co-driver, Dane Cameron, joined him on the top step of the podium, becoming the first team to secure two overall wins in the GTP category this season.

“The #6 Porsche Penske entry crossed the finish line just 0.7 seconds ahead of the #2 Cadillac Racing V-Series R driven by Renger van der Linde and Sebastien Bourdais, making it a close and thrilling finish.”

The #6 Porsche 963 of Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy completed a double podium for Porsche Penske, finishing third, while the #40 WTRAndretti Acura dropped to fourth.

The #25 Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8 of Connor De Phillippi and Nick Yelloly rounded out the top five, despite having to start from the pit lane due to an overnight chassis change.

In the LMP2 class, it was the #88 Richard Mille AF Corsa ORECA 07 driven by Dane Nicklas Nielsen, last week’s winner of the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, who came out on top after the restart and led the class by a comfortable 38-second margin.

The GTD Pro class saw a close battle between the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo and the #4 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsport Z06 GT3.R, with the Aston Martin duo of Ross Gunn and Alex Riberas ultimately taking the win after the #4 Corvette had to make a late pit stop for fuel.

In the GTD class, the #57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Russell Ward and Philip Ellis continued their winning streak, taking the top spot after not pitting during the red flag restart.

The 2024 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship now heads to the next round, the [Upcoming Event], where teams and drivers will be looking to build on their performances at the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen.
