British GT Championship Qualifying: 2 Seas Motorsport Secures Pole, Steller Motorsport Tops GT4 at Brands Hatch

(Brands Hatch, Kent, United Kingdom) The British GT Championship headed to the iconic Brands Hatch circuit for the penultimate round of the 2022 season, and it was 2 Seas Motorsport’s James Cottingham and Lewis Williamson who emerged victorious in qualifying, securing pole position in the highly competitive GT3 class.

Cottingham and Williamson set the fastest times in their respective sessions, combining to take pole by a margin of 0.396 seconds ahead of the Enduro Motorsport McLaren of Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton. The Redline Racing Lamborghini rounded out the top three, also taking pole in the Silver Am category.

In the GT4 class, it was Steller Motorsport’s Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding who claimed the top spot, lining up on the front row alongside the R Racing Aston Martin of Jamie Day and Josh Miller. The Toyota Gazoo Racing UK GR Supra of Tom Edgar and Jordan Collard will start third.

“It’s a positive result in qualifying today,” said Clutton. “A front row start, we couldn’t ask for much more than that. We didn’t have the pace to match Cottingham and Williamson, but I had more to give and was blocked out on track on a fast run. It’s a new day tomorrow and starting on the front row, we’re targeting nothing less than a podium.”

In GT4, Steller Motorsport’s Williams and Fielding put in a strong performance, securing pole position with a combined time that put them 0.522 seconds ahead of the R Racing Aston Martin. The Toyota Gazoo Racing UK GR Supra will start third.

“We’re really happy to end qualifying in P1 in the Pro session and P3 overall on combined times,” said James Dorlin of Redline Racing. “It’s nice to be able to show the kind of pace we’ve been building up to with the Redline Lamborghini Huracan. I’m looking forward to seeing what the race brings tomorrow. Our full focus is on trying to convert this strong qualifying performance into a race win.”

With the grid set, the stage is now set for an exciting race tomorrow as the British GT Championship heads towards the conclusion of the 2022 season.
