British GT Championship 2023: GT Cup Season Finale at Snetterton

The 2023 GT Cup season came to a thrilling conclusion at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk, as the championship titles were decided in a weekend filled with drama and intense competition.

In the overall standings, Paul Bailey in the Kendall Developments Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo secured his maiden GT Cup outright title, overcoming a strong challenge from his rivals throughout the season. The victory was secured despite a power cut during Saturday’s endurance race, which caused some initial confusion before the final results were officially confirmed.

In the GT3 class, the Cook Racing Audi R8 GT3 Evo II pairing of Hugo Cook and Sacha Kakad emerged victorious, clinching the class title over the Orange Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. The weekend saw some thrilling battles, including a dominant lights-to-flag win for Tom Emson in the 7TSix McLaren 720S GT3 on Sunday, and a victory for Simon Orange and Tom Roche in the final race.

The GTO class witnessed the return of the formidable Mosler MT900, with Morgan and Marcus Short taking the class by storm, securing a clean sweep on Saturday and a further victory on Sunday. However, a bent valve ended their weekend prematurely, allowing Paul Bailey to claim the class win in the final race.

In the GTC class, the father-son pairing of Dan and Graham de Zille in the AF Corse Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo emerged victorious, claiming three out of the four class victories. They faced off against the Topcats Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo, with 2021 champion Sam Neary joining Charlotte Gilbert in the Lamborghini.

The GTH class saw another impressive performance from Callum Davies and Sai Sanjay in the RaceLab McLaren Artura GT4, winning three out of the four races. However, they were narrowly beaten in the endurance race by the Greystone GT McLaren 570S GT4 of Michael Broadhurst and Philip Carter.

“The 2023 GT Cup season will resume on April 20th at Donington Park, with the entry list for the new season set to be revealed in the lead-up to the opener.”

For now, motorsport enthusiasts can look forward to the publication of the Snetterton photo gallery, providing a visual recap of the impressive machinery on display in the GT Cup championship.
