British GT News: Haas Secures Promising Young Driver Oliver Bearman for 2025 F1 Debut

Silverstone, UK – (July 2024) In a significant move, Haas Formula 1 team has announced the signing of promising young driver Oliver Bearman to a multi-term contract, paving the way for his Formula 1 debut in the 2025 season.

The 19-year-old Briton, who currently competes in the highly competitive Formula 2 championship, has already impressed the American outfit with his performances during practice sessions last year and this season. Bearman has conducted two more practice outings with Haas this year, with another four scheduled for the remaining rounds.

“I knew that if I continue to perform well in the practice sessions, hopefully, I would do enough to get an F1 seat,” Bearman said. “I’m happy that it’s finally confirmed, and I’m looking forward to making my F1 bow with Haas next season.”

Bearman’s unexpected F1 debut earlier this year in Saudi Arabia, where he stepped in for the injured Carlos Sainz and finished a commendable seventh, has been a significant boost to his confidence and prospects. Despite struggling with his Formula 2 campaign, currently sitting in 14th place, the young Briton believes that his impressive performances in F1 practice have been the key to securing his place on the Haas grid for 2025.

“The race in Saudi was the ‘stars aligning’ moment that made my step into F1 possible,” Bearman explained. “Without that, it would have been really difficult, especially with how it’s going in Formula 2 at the moment. That performance really helped me.”

With his future in F1 now secured, Bearman is eager to focus on his Formula 2 campaign and deliver strong results, particularly at his home race in Silverstone. The announcement has also lifted a significant burden from his shoulders, allowing him to concentrate on his development without the added pressure of an uncertain future.

“It’s crazy how far away it is, but I’m also happy to get things done early,” Bearman said. “Now I can focus on Formula 2 again, more than ever, because it is a really important part of the season, and it is my home race โ€“ that’s a big one.”

As Bearman sets his sights on the upcoming British GT round at Silverstone, the motorsport community will be closely watching his progress, eager to see the young talent make the transition to the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, with Haas in 2025.
