Mick Schumacher to Test Alpine Formula 1 Car for 2025 Driver Lineup Consideration

Mick Schumacher, the former Haas F1 driver and current Mercedes reserve, will get the chance to showcase his abilities as a potential candidate for Alpine’s 2025 Formula 1 driver lineup. The French squad has announced that Schumacher will test their 2022 A522 car at the Paul Ricard circuit on July 3rd.

This opportunity comes as Alpine continues to evaluate its options for the 2025 season, with the team set to part ways with Esteban Ocon at the end of the current year, while Pierre Gasly’s contract also expires after 2024. Alpine’s new consultant, Flavio Briatore, has hinted at the possibility of pairing Gasly with a “young driver or even an older one” next year.

Schumacher, who is associated with Alpine through its Hypercar program in the World Endurance Championship, will have the chance to impress the team and demonstrate his potential as a future Formula 1 driver. The test will also feature Alpine’s Australian test driver, Jack Doohan, who will also get behind the wheel of the A522.

“While Gasly is expected to be retained by Alpine, the team is also reportedly considering other options, including Carlos Sainz, who is said to have offers from Sauber/Audi and Williams.”

The Sauber team, which will transition to Audi in 2026, also has an opening for 2025, with Nico Hulkenberg set to join the squad ahead of the change of identity.

The upcoming test at Paul Ricard will be an important opportunity for Mick Schumacher to showcase his skills and make a strong case for himself as a potential candidate for Alpine’s 2025 driver lineup. As the team continues to evaluate its options, Schumacher’s performance will be closely watched by the motorsport community.
