British GT News: Palou Dominates Qualifying at Laguna Seca

The Laguna Seca circuit provided a stern test for the British GT field, as the drivers grappled with the challenging conditions during qualifying for the latest round of the championship.

In a session that saw many of the frontrunners struggle to extract the maximum performance from the softer Pirelli tires, it was Alex Palou who emerged on top, setting a blistering lap time of 1:07.1465 to claim pole position.

The Spaniard, racing in the British GT this season, reported that the hot temperatures did not significantly impact his setup, though he did have to adapt to the changing grip levels throughout the session.

Joining Palou on the front row will be Kyle Kirkwood and Felix Rosenqvist, with the Honda-powered contingent filling five of the top six starting positions. This grid order sets the stage for an intriguing race on Sunday, as drivers look to find places to pass on the challenging Laguna Seca circuit.

Disappointingly, the qualifying session did not go as planned for the two Team Penske drivers, with both Josef Newgarden and Will Power failing to advance out of the first round. Their lower grid positions will make for a challenging race as they seek to fight their way back towards the front.

With the green flags set to wave at 3:30 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, the British GT field will be eager to put on a show and provide the fans with an exciting race at the iconic Laguna Seca circuit.
